Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
LoreRoad ("we", "us") is a road-trip companion app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We don't sell your personal data.
What we collect
- Account info — your name and email when you create an account (password is stored only as a secure hash).
- Location — your approximate location, only while you use the app, to surface facts and trivia about where you are. It's used in the moment and not sold or shared for advertising.
- Voice — when you tap the mic to talk to Lore, your speech is transcribed to text so we can answer. On iPhone this transcription uses Apple's on-device/Apple speech recognition; we don't store recordings, only the resulting text of your question.
- App activity — trips, states visited, game progress, and achievements, so we can sync them across your devices.
Service providers we use
- OpenAI — to generate facts, trivia, and chat replies, and to read them aloud (premium voice). Your questions and a coarse location/place name may be sent to generate a response. We screen AI replies for objectionable content, and you can report any reply from the chat.
- Apple — speech recognition transcribes your voice to text when you talk to Lore on iPhone.
- Neon — secure database hosting for your account and saved progress.
- Google / Apple — only if you choose to sign in with them.
Your choices
- You can turn off location in your device settings (facts will fall back to general content).
- You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen — this permanently removes your profile and saved progress from our servers.
Children
LoreRoad is a family app with an optional Kid Mode that filters content. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
